Look for designs away from parlors?
Subject description: other sources for designs too

You only want your dragonfly to be black? I love black tatttoos, but dragonfly tats look best in "jewel-tones", really. I was also thinking that half of my tattoos were from parlor designs, from the tattoo artists books, but the rest were taken from other artwork sources, one of them is even my own.
The dragonflies on this thread are great, but maybe there are other designs available, too, like from old Art Deco stuff---stained glass, for example, or jeweled pins from the 1920s and '30s. I love Art Deco dragonflies.
But if you stick with black only, I'd suggest a "lacey" sort of pattern, not anything "heavy" or thick. Look at this bracelet and imagine it laid out flat. I think it's got a nice little Goth thing going on.
