Posted: Sat Jan 14, 2006 10:51 am Post subject: How difficult is it to update PHP on live server ? Subject description: Does it cause downtime?

I never did this before, but I would like to update my PHP. However it's on a production live server, and I don't know how long it takes and if it will cause my web server to be down for a "long" time. Do I have to stop my Apache server first ? Or can I compile and install the upgraded version of PHP and only restart the Apache server "after" ? Any help or recommandations are welcome,
