I wanted a really pretty jacket and I saw one in the Roamon's catalog online. It looked so sweet, it was a pretty denim and it looked in the picture like it was nipped in at the waist a bit, to give it a more taylored look. It had sweet brass button and pretty sleeeves that were full-lenght, but appeared to be meant to be rolled up and buttoned to a 3/4 length to allow for blouses to peep out.
I ordered the right size, but much to my dispair, the jack is way over-size(hence the sale-price, I guess), the inside seaming is nasty and cheap, preventing me from rolling up the sleeves to allow for shirts or sweater to peep out at the wrists. There is no shaping to it at all--it's huge, wide, long and straight.
It's a misshapened sack with cute embroidery and buttons, still distorted. I know I'm a huge fat ugly thing, and I realize the models are thin and the clothing is pinned behind their backs, but I didn't think that the pinning was done to create a false shape.
I can't afford to send this back. The material is very heavy and the postage is not an option. So I need to keep this, although it is about 2 sizes too big. I like my stuff big, but not like this.
Does anyone have suggestions on how I can alter this somehow and/or layers certain clothes under it to utilize his awkward appearance? I see big girls all the time who have such talent for this kind of thing.
I saved for this jacket. I need to use it. I always wear a jacket of some kind out of the house, over all my clothes. I was thinking of using a couple of darts to bring in the waist just a bit, but I'm not sure it's appropriate for the cut of the jacket. I can't do anything about the length but perhaps someone has suggestions how how I can use this length to my advantage?
And I must do something about these sleeves. I would like to scrunch them up but they're so long, and big(wide) and heavy they will not stay up. maybe I can sew elastic inside? I can't roll them up inside-out because of the very shoddy seam work inside. Does anyone have a talent with sewing and altering? I do have a machine.
Clothing suggestion for under the jacket would be greatly appreaciate. I'm a pretty fat girl and apple-shaped. So there you have it. I have a weakness for nice clothes but I made a mistake and I'd like to fix it for myself. Any advise is appreciated.
