Introduce yourself
Subject description: New members presentation
Feel free to post a little presentation about yourself, how you discovered Sudoku, why you like it, and what you like about it.
I am from France, and I discovered the Sudoku in a Word Games magazine in February 2005. To tell you the truth, I was first attracted by the name ... but I quickly became addicted, and even if I am not very good, there is something hypnotising...

Solver
Subject description: Fine problem
Last Friday, I have found SUDOKU in a local newspaper (Czech Republic, Europe) during lunch.
Later on I started thinking about it. I spent half ot the weekend (to a great disapointment of my honey, although she has a PhD in maths as well) staring up the ceiling, mindbrushing in order to discover an efficient algorithm to solve it generally.
During hands-on training, my personal results went from 6:30 (easy) to 15:00 (hard), with +100% overhead proportional to the nuber of drinks I've had there.
Today, after work, 3 hours in the backroom of a silent bar with my blue-collar shovel, there exists an alpha solving correctly. 120 ms on 1.6G IBM Thinkpad as an average.
My first assumption was that my shovel has to solve any of these under 1 sec. Is this an NP-complete stuff? Imho not, as the results tend to show, it seems to be a P-hard problem. Is it so? Does anybody know?
I'll be back asap, btw using not C++, but an old-fashioned Delphi 5 (Pascal, in fact).

I am a french games developper, and I discovered Sudoku two years ago.
I'm not an expert player though, as I don't have enough time to practice. But I enjoy Sudoku enough to have created my own game, grid generator, and solver !
