Concerning Instant Messaging ID posts

It has come to our attention that some people have been collecting instant messaging IDs for dishonest reasons and under fake identities.

This is why we have decided to no longer allow posts that request instant messaging IDs.

Of course you are still free to exchange IM IDs with who you want, on a one-to-one basis, via the PM (Private Messaging) or through an email address that a member has decided to provide in her or his profile.

We truly apologize for this and any inconvenience it might cause, but nowadays the Internet is being corrupted by unscrupulous people and we will not contribute to indirectly helping them achieve their goals.

As usual we would like to remind you that on the Internet you never really know to whom you are speaking, and a lot of people are abusive of this anonymity to make you fall into their trap.

In addition, while we understand that some of you may not agree with these rules and want to complain, please remember that RingsWorld is freely hosting these forums to offer you a free space of discussion. We set the policy rules and guildlines to try to make this place as safe as possible for everybody. Please refrain from voicing disgruntlement at us on the boards concerning our rules and decisions and PM us if you have questions. Thank you.
