i know this is totally off subject, but has any1 had there tongue pierced? i had mine done last year and i just wondered whether u can take it out when u go to bed or does it heal up??
i've had my tongue peirced for four years. i recently left it out for a week and had to push throught the very bottom layer again. a couple of days seems to be fine but it started healing after just one week.

well i just got mine done last night i really dont have any idea why i was mad at my botfi\riend and i just wanted it dont do i went to go do it ..and now im not regretting it this sucks at first damn im hungry and i wish i would of ate before i got this done this is my second day and it hurts ....my neck hurts to from the swelling..

I just wanted to let all of you know of my experience with my tongue piercing. First off, I've had mine pierced since 1999 and never had any problems with it AT ALL, or so I thought.
Now, here I am 7 years later and just found out YESTERDAY that a [i]large[/i] part of my dental problems are stemming from it. I have developed severly recessed gums in the back of my lower four front teeth...so much so that the doctor is pessimistic about the future of those teeth, they may have to be wired in place just so that I can keep them.
Since yesterday, I've been researching the topic and MANY DDS's have found a direct correlation between tongue, and other mouth piercings, to periodontal disease, which is the recession of your gum line and the break down of the bones that hold the teeth in place.
So, not to discourage anyone from doing this (because I'm seriously heartbroken now that I have to take it out in order to save my teeth ) but just to let you know that keeping your stud for too long can have some severly adverse affects. Now, to top off the whole debacle, I cannot get my stud out...it's stuck and I don't know what to do.
