Tragus - pierced with a gun, is that dangerous?
Subject description: it is the lumpy bit on your ear that is just above where your earlobe meets your face

I have wanted a tragus (the lumpy bit on your ear that is just above where your earlobe meets your face) piercing for a few years now and I finally found a place that does them but I am feeling a little apprehensive.
I can probably assume that the actual piercing won’t be any different to my nose piercing, which I had done about five year ago but will probably be done with a hollow needle. My nose was done with a gun by someone else, and I didn’t have any problems (I was lucky I guess), but I was wondering if having my tragus done with a gun would be more dangerous, just in case this piercing artist approaches my ear with a gun, like the one I went to last week did, I went to have the tragus pierced but I left without having it done because I had expected a hollow needle and was unsure if the piercing artist knew what she was doing.
Would it even be safe to get it done? I ask because, I know that the tragus’s role is to protect the inner ear, does a piercing mean that my inner ear will be less protected? Do any of you have this piercing, or know anything about it? If so please get back to me soon.

Boy, I pierced for years and I have to say, cool as this piercing looks, it is one of the least safe of body piercings. However, if you have it done, your instincts are dead-on accurate and in no way should you allow anyone to use a gun for this.
As a matter of fact, Rose, no piercing should be done with a gun. The proper methods have been in place for over 20 years, and the only person who uses a gun is someone who's totally irrisponsible and unwilling to put out the money for tools and in particular, for the expensive sterilizers. Run, don't walk, from anyone who claims a gun is okay.
Oh and before I forget--this piercing takes about a year to heal, so be patient, don't sleep on that side, and take very good care of it.

I Want Candy, do you know why this piercing is so unsafe? I’ve heard horror stories about how it can kill you and leave you with a swollen face for months, but never really understood why and i can't seem to find much information about it on the net.

Wow i have never heard of painless piercing, though tbh with this peircing i was more worried about the long lasting damage that it could have caused. i'm going to look for a painless parlour near by when i get my conch (the bit inside the ear) done, according to some friends, it is the most painful ear peircing  though i can't inmagine that this peircing is any safer than the tragus...why are all the cool one dangerous  !
