MySpace, LiveJournals and Blogs
Subject description: what's the difference??

What's the difference between all of those? I thought MySpace and LiveJournal WERE blog-places, aren't they? I tried to create a MySpace page a month ago and it was a fricking MESS! I couldn't control anything; the site was up and down constantly and I ended up having private info listed as public. I had to get rid of it, it was so fecked up and then I was too scared to make a LiveJournal. (also everyone there is younger than me*pouts*)
I know I'm not savy about this kind of stuff but it's really frustrating. What's the best place? What is the most user-friendly? What are the pros and cons of each place?
So, are all those places, including sites like Communities dot com, too, all blog pages? Are they the only ones? I'll take all advise and personal impressions from knowligble peoples, I pay in gold bullion for wisdom, no Euros or dollars, you can trust me of course.
Yours truly, Pepperjack.

I've not tried MySpace, basically because I thought it was mostly for kids/teens/youth. But I have tried LiveJournal ( my LJ) and it was a mess to set up. And I have tried Bloggers (my bloggers blog) but I don't remember what it was like. I find LiveJournal to be incredibly difficult to figure out where to go to do stuff. Like, make a post.
On many of the Bloggers or LiveJournal blogs, you need to be a member of that site in order to post a reply. I created those two blogs in order to participate in discussions with on-line friends.
I use WordPress hosted on my own site. I have total control over appearance and content. WP is free so it cost nothing extra to set up (since I already had the site). It is also open source which means I have even more control.
WordPress has a "community" type of blog space called WordPress.com. It works a lot like LiveJournal and the others in that they host your blog. But again, you have a lot of control over looks and of course content.
A blog, the thing itself, is a "web log". So any software or site that lets you keep a public journal/diary is a is letting you have a blog.

Hey, thanks for the blog advise! You sound like you know what you're doing! It's cool you've got your own set-up, too. You should give lessons.
To be honest, the first time I visited someone's page on LiveJournal, it looked like such a mess, I thought maybe it was supposed to be cool, you know? The only thing is I'm too old to think a big old mess is cool, so it turned me off, plus yeah, it seemed incredibly hard to handle I thought well, that's the point since the way I talk in real life is a big mess, too? Eeek.
Are you familiar with Blogger.com? Would you recommend that for a beginner? Thank you again! Yours truly, Pepperjack
