Hi Constance,

you sound alot like me. In that you eat relatively very little and drink water and tea.

I too, do the same. Today i have consumed about 100 calories with another 60 to go.

I dont see any other way to lose weight and become really thin without starving yourself.

I think that a low caloric intake such as yours/mine is the only way to get to your goal weight fast.

as far as the binging goes, i think that varies from ana to ana, as some binge cause they are so fucking hungry after a few days of not eating that tye freak out, other suffer from MIA too, and some just do it cause they hate themselves and give up, temporarily.

i binged this weekend and dont even know why. i think its cause I am PMS'ing and my cravings are almost uncontrollable.

I am hungry right now but i am sipping some hot mint tea and that will have to do till later. My nectarine awaits.

Whats your current weight and goal? Do you consider yourself ana or just an extreme dieter?

I have an ED regardless of whether im a fat pig or sickly thin. I eat emotionally both ways.

My goal is 106, im a fattie still but i know i will get there......you will too!

1) I have seen some people come on forums like this and declare they *are ana* and yet struggle with overeating. They are overweight and seem to *want* to be ana...and are calling themselves that...but are they? A textbook ana is one whose bmi is under 18.5 from what I have read, although one can have ana tendancies and have a bmi above that. Can anyone comment on that kind of situation?

A textbook is one who has a BMI of such and such etc....however, remember ANA has to start somewhere, whether its at 125 or 225, all ANA's start at some weight and progress.

2) When I see people are saying they are drinking vinegar...are they speaking about apple cider vinegar? How much are they drinking and why?

I drink that stuff sometimes, about 3 tablespoons is good, and it is supposed to increase fat loss although i only get tummy aches from it.

3) I tend to eat about 300 calories a day for 6 days, then on the 7th day I am eating about 600-800 so my body doesn't think it is starving. Although I know 600-800 is still relatively low...is this a good game plan?

Yeah it is, they say to do that although, if you eat 300 calories for 6 days and then dont go up on the seventh, isnt your body gonna lose weight anyway? i mean there werent ANY fat people in the war camps. Cause they were always hungry! everyday! I know thats a horrible thought but its true.

4) I find it curious that some things I have read indicate that ana people will desire to go on binges from time to time. Is that because the body is starving or is it because even as an ana, there is a desire to eat. I was under the impression that the idea of eating itself was a turnoff to a true ana. Can someone comment on that??

well even true ANAs eat something, oir lese they'd be dead in a few weeks/months. Its the intense fear of gaining weight that cause them to eat as little as possible and excercise accordingly.

5) I do not want to binge/purge at all, yet I have read that most ana people do this from time to time. Are there ana people out there who never binge/purge or am I expecting too much?

I never purge although i am guilty of binging. I tried to purge a few weeks back and nothing came up although i tried deperately for 10 minutes....now i just wont eat.

That is all I can think of for now. I am so interested in hearing from you and learning from your experience. I want my journey to be steadfast and determined. I want to pursue this with knowledge.

I don't claim to be ana as I am currently overweight, however, in the past when I was thin, I had ana and coe tendencies, so it is easy for me to relate to the people on this board.

I haven't found any place else where people feel the same way I do about food and eating and are supportive in the way they discuss it. So I'm betting that not everyone on here IS truly ana, but that we all benefit from what others with our same thought processes (and demons) have to say. Anyways welcome to the forum... Smile

That is exactly why I chose to post on this forum community. It does seem supportive and understanding, no matter where people are in their struggle. Thank you for the welcome!!

After downing a number of hot water + cider vinegar concoctions I decided to do some more research. This is what I found online...makes me reconsider taking the cider vinegar anymore....

"Apple Cider Vinegar"
Review

The following review was sent to chasefreedom.com by a former vistitor:

"Vinegar and Weight Loss: The Sour Truth"

A few vinegar pills probably won't hurt you or your baby, but they won't do one bit of good in helping you lose weight either. By Elizabeth Somer , MA,RD

Question:
I had a baby 6 months ago and would like to lose some weight. I know that if you're nursing, you're not supposed to diet. I have been eating healthy foods high in nutrients, and I have lost a little weight. Would it be harmful to the baby if I started taking apple cider vinegar pills to help with weight loss?

Answer:

March 12, 2001 -- A few vinegar pills probably won't hurt you or your baby, but they won't do one bit of good in helping you lose weight either. This old diet fad dates back to the 1970s, when a combination of apple cider, kelp, vitamin B-6, and lecithin was touted as the miracle cure for weight loss. The rationale for this concoction was that it tricked your body's metabolism. According to the

claims, lecithin emulsified body fat, B-6 metabolized the loosened fat, kelp supplied iodine to stimulate the thyroid gland to manufacture more thyroxin to speed metabolism, and vinegar supplied potassium. Like salad dressings where oil and vinegar don't mix, this was supposed to help rid the body of fat.

There is no scientific basis, or even rational reason, for any of these claims. For example, a teaspoon of vinegar contains only five milligrams of potassium, a meager amount compared to the 400 milligrams in a cup of grapefruit juice. Swallowing more iodine will jump start a thyroid gland only if you are deficient in this mineral (you'll know if you are iodine-deprived because you will have developed a goiter, or an enlargement of the thyroid gland). When people lost weight on this regimen it was because they also followed the accompanying low-calorie diet. Like all the other diet fads, from starch blockers and collagen products to herbal diet teas and hydroxycitric acid (HCA), the vinegar pills fit most or all the criteria of a useless gimmick:

They promise to melt away fat.
They promise fast and effortless weight loss.
They promise weight loss greater than one to two pounds a week.
They focus on one or a few foods and limit or exclude whole food groups.
They are based on pills or "secret formulas."

Save your money and follow the advice of thousands of people who have not just lost weight, but maintained the weight loss. Consume daily a wide variety of nutrient-packed vegetables, fruits, whole grains, extra-lean meats and beans, and nonfat milk or yogurt. Watch your portions, and, most importantly, exercise each day. You also are right about not dieting while breastfeeding. It took nine months to gain the weight during your pregnancy. Plan to begin your weight-loss plan after you've stopped breastfeeding, and give yourself at least nine months after that to regain your figure.

Well,

So far i have lost 4 pounds since monday. I have kept it under 300 calories a day and today i made some chicken broth with chicken buillon. It has a toal of 15 calories, but is extremely high in salt so its gonna make me drink alot of water to make sure my body doesnt retain extra weight.

I am sticking to this till saturday morning. I hope to have another 5 pounds off by then.

I suggest you all try a low cal diet for a few days and enjoy the results...oh by the way, i was super starving last night and when i got home i wanted to eat peanut butter so bad but i ate like 10 raw mushrooms with mustard and it filled me up with basically no calories! ill keep you posted.

I agree, constance/the one day of normal eating does seem to help, plus it gives you a freaking needed break.
